Can my placenta still be encapsulated if I have a Caesarian Section?
Mothers who have caesarian sections can absolutely have their placenta encapsulated, and it isn’t any more difficult than it would be with a vaginal birth. As with any birth, you should discuss your intent with your practitioner prior to birth so that you are aware of any hospital or practitioner policies regarding the release of your placenta. In the event of an unplanned C-Section, it is important to make doctors and nurses aware that you plan to keep your placenta. Most physicians will work to make sure the wishes of the mother are carried out as long as communication is clear.
When can I begin using my placenta products?
Placenta capsules are ready in 24-36 hours. You can even begin ingesting your placenta as soon as you give birth. Capsules, salves, and smoothies can be taken as soon as you receive them. Placenta Tinctures are to be after six weeks postpartum as this allows proper fermentation.
How long are my products good for?
Placenta capsules are best stored in a cool, dry place for the first six weeks. After that, they should be stored in the freezer for best preservation. They are best if consumed within one year. A New Moon Rising uses only raw, organic materials in creating each salve, and as such, they should be used within six months. Tinctures are made with medicinal grade alcohol above 120 proof and are designed to last indefinitely as long as they are stored in a cool, dark place.
How many capsules will I get?
You will receive between 90 and 200 capsules depending on your placenta and the methods of preparation you choose.
